Isaac Solly

Ph. D. Student

Overview

Isaac is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Medieval Studies Program. His master's and undergraduate theses focused on the dynamics of Carolingian king-deposing and intra-family warfare in the ninth and tenth centuries.

Research Focus

Isaac's research is focused on early and high medieval political history and kingship on both sides of the English Channel. He is particularly interested in the political realities that guided and constrained political actors and the tensions inherent within kingship. He also studies how medieval texts engaged with themes of mobility, dependency, and history-crafting.
