Overview
I am a first-year PhD student in medieval studies, and a student of Old English and Latin. I have read English for my first (Shenzhen) and second (UCL) Bachelor of Arts degrees, pursued a Master of Education (Harvard) in language and literacy, and completed a Master of Arts (Toronto) degree in medieval studies. In addition to being a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese and proficient in English (120/120 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language), I have an intermediary reading knowledge of Classical Chinese which I have acquired through self-study. I have also taken French courses in Canadian high school.
Research Focus
For my PhD project, I am interested in the studying Old English translation (B Text) of the De consolatione philosophiae (The Consolation of Philosophy) by Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius, traditionally attributed to King Alfred the Great.
