The Roundtable, organized by the Medieval Studies Graduate Association (MSGA), is a place for graduate students to workshop their projects and a community space where everyone's voice and presence are valued whether or not they have expertise on the topic being presented. It is both a space for graduate students to receive feedback on their works in progress and an opportunity for faculty and graduate students to learn more about the wide range of specialties represented in the medievalist community at Cornell.
The Roundtable will be in-person again this semester in Olin Library 703--with food!
Roundtables are scheduled for the following Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:00 pm:
September 11th - Alice Wolff, dissertation chapter draft on “A Matter of Thorns and Thistles”
October 2nd - Ryan Randle, dissertation chapter draft on “Selling Out: Materializing & Commercializing the Special Effect in Late Medieval Cults and Modern Horror Franchises”
October 23rd - Fedor Nekhaenko, in-progress article and edition on “Alexandri de Hales Quaestiones Disputatae de angelis (MS Bodl. 292)”
November 13th - Hunter Phillips, mock conference presentation on “Hidden Animals: The Aesthetics of Concealment in The Phoenix, The Panther, and The Whale”
Any papers will be distributed via email about a week in advance.
