Sophia D'Ignazio (2022) wins SMFS Best Graduate Essay Prize!

Roberta Magnani, President of the Society for Medieval Feminist Scholarship (SMFS) writes:

Dr Sophia D'Ignazio, who has recently been awarded her doctorate from Cornell University, impressed the panel with her essay entitled 'The Carolingian Gender Reform: Making Monastic Women Female in the Eighth and Ninth Century'. The panel was faced with a very difficult decision, as all submissions were of very high standard and calibre, but Dr D'Ignazio's essay stood out for its rigour and sophistication. The field is certainly in good hands!

Congratulations again to Dr D'Ignazio! Look out for the publication of her essay in a forthcoming issue of Medieval Feminist Forum.
